Junior Strategic Communications & Outreach Consultant

ALSO Space is hiring a Junior Strategic Communications and Outreach Consultant to join our international team. The role involves supporting the development of high-quality communication materials with a strong focus on accuracy, responsiveness, and clarity, particularly around complex or sensitive topics such as as disaster management, emergency response, security and defence, and Earth Observation-related domains. 

The successful candidate will be proactive, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, information-driven environment. He/She will play a key role in transforming technical and scientific information into clear and accessible communications for diverse audiences, including institutional, security and defence stakeholders. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create clear, engaging digital content (e.g. social media posts, articles, graphics) on scientific, environmental, and security-related topics
  • Translate complex scientific or technical information into clear, engaging language for non-expert and stakeholder audiences
  • Ensure scientific accuracy and sensitivity when communicating about Earth monitoring, disasters and emergencies, or security-related situations 
  • Monitor relevant developments across security, space, and crisis-response contexts to support rapid communication in time sensitive scenarios , particularly at the start of the working day
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop and distribute timely communication material
  • Ability to design visual content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, international security, public policy,  science, engineering, geospatial disciplines  or a related field
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in communication, science communication, or a related role with an interest in remote sensing, security, or crisis-related topics, and the ability to communicate complex scientific or technical information clearly. 
  • Fully fluent in English (oral and written). Proficiency in other European languages, particularly Spanish, French, or Italian, will be an additional asset.
  • Strong copywriting and content creation skills 
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar)
  • Excellent time management, able to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Highly organised and adaptable, with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard workplace tools
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and clearly explain data-driven content
  • Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders
