Description
Under this contract, a hub for Copernicus Earth Observation data across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) has been established. The activities of the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre fall within the overall context of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance, which is a strategic framework to promote cooperation between the EU and the LAC region on digital and space issues under the umbrella of the EU Global Gateway strategy. The Centre supports disaster risk reduction (DRR), capacity building, knowledge sharing, and regional stakeholder engagement. In this context, ALSO Space local Liaison and Knowledge Officers based in Panama lead user uptake, communication, training, and outreach activities to increase awareness and use of Copernicus data.
Results
Facilitating numerous stakeholder meetings and events, including with the EU Delegations in LAC Countries, Development Banks, and regional and international organisations
Supporting the organisation, promotion and delivery of tens of in-person and online trainings on remote sensing, and Copernicus Earth Observation data applications for LAC stakeholders
Developing and implementing a comprehensive multi-language communication plan to increase visibility and awareness of the Centre’s activities
Strengthening engagement with private sector and academic institutions to maximise the impact of EO data applications
